I took these photos just before I left for Vegas. It was so sunny and nice out, so my nephews and dogs were outside playing with my mom. Cleio is a long-haired miniature dachshund -- she's so pretty and sporty looking in these photos! She loves being outside and would honestly live outside if she could (although, she would probably want to come in to sleep). And of course, Mason was looking so handsome in his little plaid shorts and blue bucket hat. He loves to play and has gotten very talkative, mostly pointing and shouting "Da!" But he also plays patty cake now and signs "more" (which is actually clapping, but he will be more precise when prompted), and walks independently a lot! 

Taking pictures of little kids is probably one of my favorite forms of photography. They're just so happy and playful and sweet!

I had this post written and saved in mid-April, but never posted it! I'm so forgetful sometimes. I loved this set of photos though. I love nature photography -- I don't think it gets as much credit as it should! I wish I had taken my DSLR to Las Vegas with me -- I was there for only two days (put together, really), but there was SO MUCH to take photos of! The people of Las Vegas (at least the strip!) are so interesting and fascinating. 

the Final Days of April

I always take so long to post photos! I took these ones at the end of April, before the weather got really nice. (It's been dry and sunny and warm in Oregon for almost two weeks!) The ladybugs are out; flowers are blooming; and the lighting is perfect. I love spring. 

Twilight: 04.18.12

A few nights ago (before I got sick), I went for a walk as the sun was just setting. I got home from work, put on comfy clothes and my boots, and went out and about. My favorite photo might be the one of the cow. Her name is Scarlet and she is as feisty as she looks. Okay, and maybe not; she was looking at me because she thought I maybe had food to give her. 

I missed going for walks and taking photos! I'm hoping to do more as the weather gets nicer. In fact, I've taken more photos this month than I have for the past four months! 

Easter Sunday / 4.8.12

I hope you all had a great Easter!

My family got together on Sunday to have dinner and then have an Easter egg hunt for the boys. It was kind of a hard day for everyone, but it was still also very fun. If nothing else, even on sad days, I try to remind myself that there is a lot of beauty in the world -- daffodils, cherry blossoms, my nephews -- and the people who have left us wouldn't want us to sit around being sad and not appreciating those beautiful things. 

It definitely helped that Sunday was a beautiful day -- sunny (okay, a few clouds!) and in the low 60s. Very spring-like!
